No, no... that makes it cool

Mitt Romney "retroactively retired" from Bain Capital. That explains everything.

Hey, I retroactively declared Mitt Romney to be a douchebag back to 2004. Possibly earlier. I'll clarify my statements when it starts to bite me in the ass.

That's what one of his people said.

It's about the stupidest response possible.

So, context:

Mittens has been saying that he retired from Bain in 1999 to go work on the (then failing) Salt Lake City Olympics.

However, several SEC filed documents, which it is a federal offense to lie on, say that he was still in charge of Bain. As do statements of his, circa 2002, when he was running for governor of Massachusetts, where he said that he was still doing plenty of business there. (This was needed because there were questions as to his actual state of residence, in the election.)

The reason that this is important now, is because Bain did a ton of outsourcing several years after Mitt left (the 1999 left), so it's rather important for "when he left".

The "retroactively retired" is his people saying that "no, he didn't quite leave in 1999, but in 2002, he retroactively left back to 1999".

Dumbest damn thing ever. But #retroactively is trending on twitter.
