The Washington state senate has approved a bill to legalized gay marriage. It goes to the Washington House of Representatives in a week, and is expected to pass there.

Opponents of the bill are going to try and force a referendum challenge to it at the next ballot.

Here in Maine we're trying to be the first state to pass it by vote. We've made it official that the question will be on the ballot again this November.

I imagine the Eastern half of the state is knotting their usually right wing knickers even as we type.

And I live in the one country of western Washington that is mostly GOP/God-fodder; crazy signs will proliferate and I will be able to blow off petition boards at the market.
