In January, the cost of stamps is going up again.

Now, here's the fucked up part. A large chunk of the reason the Post Office is so cash-strapped is because they are required to fully fund their pension fund... for employees who haven't even been hired yet. And of course, there's some other typical federal government shenanigans, but that's the big one. They, quite seriously, have to have pension funds for employees who won't be hired until the next decade.
