That's nice, too bad it's "by the power invested in me by the state of $x" that people use when they perform marriages.

If state's dont recognize it it's kind of pointless.

True, but at least the states can't just point at DOMA now and say "We're only doing what the feds say is okay!"

Yes, but one of the big things that was fucking over people in the states that did allow marriage was federal employees same-sex spouses weren't getting benefits through that marriage.
