ruling that the government cannot require Americans to purchase insurance

The worst part of all this is that I agree with that sentence. At least as so far as "cannot" at least be changed to "should not."

I really, really hate anything that makes it seem like I agree with repugnantcans.

I wonder what this will mean for other things people are forced to purchase, such as car insurance.

Not a whole lot, probably. Car insurance is only required for people who own/lease a car. Whereas, the Obama health care plan requires it for everyone... in effect, for attendance.

Furthermore, unless I'm missing something (which, I might, because I don't own/lease a car, so I don't have to deal with car insurance), there isn't a federal requirement to car insurance, which is the part that this judge is getting all hot and bothered by in the health care plan.
