Right now, he's tied in early polls with one of the other candidates, current SC Attorney General Henry McMaster. Frankly, if Bauer keeps sticking his foot in his mouth, he's not going to even get the Republican nomination. And hell, I'm half expecting that within a week of Bauer formally announcing that he's running for Governor, some of the long-standing rumors that he's gay will be verified by a pissed off ex-boyfriend.
That being said, probably the only Democratic candidate who stands a decent chance in the election is Jim Rex. However, almost half the people polled are undecided on who they want as the Democratic candidate.
*nod* There have been some people here in South Carolina saying that anyone to the left of Joe Wilson (the "You Lie!" guy) is a RINO, so it wouldn't shock me much if Bauer was trying to pander to them.
