Now, realistically, even if the McCain/Palin ticket wins AND McCain strokes out or dies within days of taking office, there's not much of a chance that Sarah Palin could get Roe vs. Wade overturned. Still, it's scary that she'd want to try.

Of course, the McCain campaign does seem to have it's panties in a bunch over various women's rights groups choosing Obama.... seems like they think that simply because Sarah Palin is on the Republican ticket should be enough for them to wholeheartedly back the Republicans instead of, you know, those scallywags over on the Democratic side who want to still allow abortions in the cases of rape and incest. (For the record, yes, I'm pro-choice. I'm also pro-responsibility.)

I heard about this from a friend a couple of days ago and freaked the fuck out.
She has, quite obviously, either a rock where her heart should be, or never been through ANYTHING like assault or rape. I can't tell you how much this angers me. I'd like to see how McCain feels about it, though.

I think McCain knows that there's a whelk's chance in a supernova of overturning Roe vs. Wade, but he picked Palin because of her pro-life stance (among other reasons) simply because it would help his chances among certain parts of the electorate.

Now, what would be a real shitstorm is if a McCain presidency ended up somehow convincing the Supreme Court that abortion is a states issue. (In other words, each state can choose to ban or allow abortions.) We'd end up with at least half the Deep South banning abortions, probably some of the northern Midwest states, and a few New England ones.
