I've mentioned before that I'm a pro-wrestling fan. Well, it seems that there's been a number of suspensions and a few firings of active wrestlers.

Mike Bucci (aka Simon Dean): Fired. He was actually an employee of WWE as well as a wrestler, and apparently, he was let go for violating the Wellness (aka Drug) Policy that the WWE has.

Cryme Tyme (a tag team): Fired. They were let go after some sort of incident the other night. This may not be related to the Wellness Policy, but possibly some other sort of fuck-up.

Nick Dinsmore (Eugene): Fired. Probably for violating the Wellness Policy. He had gotten into trouble back in 2005 for damn near OD'ing on somas.

A number of other wrestlers have been suspended, as a result of violations of the Wellness Policy. This is a result of an investigation that showed that several wrestlers were receiving drugs from an online pharmacy, Signature Pharmacy.

These wrestlers are likely to include:

Umaga
William Regal
Mr. Kennedy
John Morrison
Chris Masters
Charlie Haas
Randy Orton

Now, given that a couple of these wrestlers are in high-profile feuds right now, it's likely that at least Randy Orton and Mr. Kennedy will continue to work without being paid for the duration of their "suspension", while others will be taken off all shows for the duration. (30 day suspension for first violation, 60 days for second, termination of employment for third violation.) If Randy Orton is indeed one of the wrestlers involved, this will be his second violation of the Wellness Policy.

Furthermore, WWE is apparently going to start testing for marijuana. Yeah, their Wellness Policy was really only covering drugs like steroids and things like that. But, it seems the plan is that there aren't likely to be suspensions for marijuana use (because it seems a good number of their roster tokes up), only fines. We'll have to see how that goes.

Nick Dinsmore (Eugene) was fired for violating the Wellness Policy for a third time. He was found to have a prescription drug in his system and was unable to produce a doctor's prescription for it. (Note that if he had been able to do so, it would not have been a violation of the Wellness Policy at all.)

Cryme Tyme was fired because they performed their finishing move on a referee who was not expecting it or trained to take it. Even though they did this as a result of a joke pulled on them during the match by Cade and Murdoch (who got the referee to count fast at the end of the match, disqualifying Cryme Tyme), it was Cryme Tyme who came out of it looking like the bad guys, and they were released after the show. They are not burning their bridges behind them, so the possibility remains open that they will work for WWE at some point in the future.

Yeah, I said I don't watch much TV, but it's Monday night.... what the hell.

Anyway, I'm sitting on the couch and all of a sudden I hear this "thump" from the direction of the living room windows. I look over, and swear to God, there is some kind of bug that is at least 4 or 5 inches long clinging to the outside screen. Luckily, I have screens. Even more luckily, the window was closed too.

Then, this one bug, this one fucking insect, proceeds to make some loud, screeching sound. The sound is loud enough to drown out the TV, and it's one goddamned bug. A minute later, it detached itself from my window screen and flew off.

I'm guessing it was some kind of mutant giant cicada or something, but I'm not ruling out alien invaders or some sort of government project to develop super-insects.
