Just plain fucking weird
Sep. 5th, 2007 07:37 amOkay, so some time ago, the philly steak place and the little convienence store around the corner closed. Might have been as early as last January, might have been even earlier, I can't recall. (I may have mentioned their closing here on LJ, but I can't be arsed to go back and check.)
Annnnyway.... they left a great deal of stuff behind. How much stuff? Well, the philly steak place left all the tables and benches (which, well, were kinda attached to the tables), the counters, the cooking surfaces, the soda fountain, etc. and so on. Hell, I could see pallets of bottled energy drinks from the windows of the store.
Same with the convienence store. Literally, anything that wasn't sold by their last day of business was left behind and the doors locked. If you looked in through the glass, you would see the shelves of various goods, including non-prescription medicines, candy bars, sodas, and yeah, quite a number of packs of cigarettes.
So, both places, closed for months now. No sign that anyone is coming back to collect all that stuff, right? It took until this last weekend for someone to break in and try and steal stuff. No idea if they got away with anything, and the glass panel they kicked out (presumably kicked, that is... it was stationed that low to the ground) has already been covered over with a board and nailed into place, but damn.....
Coincidence that it happened less then a week after the University right across the street came back into session? I think not.
