So...

I'm really seriously thinking about getting a tablet computer of some sort. It should have web-browsing, the ability to read PDFs, and not be a slow piece of shit.

I also don't want to spend a ton of money on it. (I'm looking at a Kindle Fire as one option.)

Any thoughts?

Kindle is probably your best bet, though I don't know how good its web browsing is.

There are some decent Acer Android tablets but they cost more. Only advice I'd give is don't buy online until you've gone to a Best Buy or something and personally tried a few out. Many of them are seriously cheap pieces of crap.

Yeah, use BB as your demo environment or showroom, but then buy online.

The Kindle is your best bet, price-wise, and I've heard it does perform well. But if you're going for great tech specs (memory, RAM, storage, et cetera) for a lower price than comparable models, any of the Asus Transformer models are great. I'd recommend them over HP, Toshiba, Motorola, and everything else out there.
