Well, I first saw this in som_pos, and one of my comments there was that while it's possible that they might get a good bit of support from the local fundies, there is a good chance they would get just as much support from the "South Shall Rise Again" crowd, and the overt racism one tends to encounter in that group tends to take anything they do away from the mainstream.
Of course, there are also the religious groups in the state that would be against this idea (for some reason, I just can't see the local Muslims or Jews reacting all that positively to a fundy Christian state), and then there's the matter of which version of Christianity these fundies are.
Ah well, the attempt will probably not go past the "blithering moron on a web-page" stage, so it's not really worth worrying about.
