South Fulton fire department watches a home burn down, doing nothing because the home-owner's hadn't paid a fee.

This is the same fire department who did nothing last year under similar circumstances.

Here's the thing. On one hand, I can understand that it costs a lot of money to maintain fire-fighting equipment. Likewise, training and insurance for the fire-fighters is not free.

However, do you honestly think that the family who just lost their home is now in better shape to afford this fee?

Hah. I read about that one last night, too, and then read it to my husband, who has been ranting for years that the next move is to privatize all law enforcement and firefighting departments.
