Do what?

So, the other day, I got a text message. Slightly unusual, given that I don't get a lot of phone traffic. So I check the message. It's from someone I don't know at all, and the message is a link to a website. Moreover, it's one that's shortened through the bit.ly thing, so I have absolutely no idea what sort of website it is.

No, I didn't surf to it to see what it was. But I have to wonder, are there really people so stupid as to check things like that out?

Yes. I'm surprised you even have to ask that question.

The answer to this question is, unfortunately, always yes. Yes there are. Bitly does ask people report dodgy links so they can sort it out:

There are ways to work out where it goes to, but off the top of the head my brain's not telling me which ones are easy, IIRC Twitter and Google both sort them out.
