Wrestlemania predictions
If all goes well, I'll be watching Wrestlemania XX at a friend's house tonight...
Therefore, some predictions on the matches (behind a cut for those who don't care about pro-wrestling.)
In no particular order:
Christan vs. Chris Jericho:
This will be the match that should complete Jericho's most recent face turn, and a victory over Christian would be a good move, and yet not necessarily end any feud between them. I'm predicting that Jericho wins, unless Trish comes down to ringside, in which case, she'll inadvertently cause Christian to pick up the victory.
Women's Championship
Molly Holly vs. Victoria (champion)
Okay, considering that this is not just a title match, but that Molly gets shaved bald if she loses, I predict that Molly will get the title back. Let's face it, bald male wrestlers look more like bad-asses (Stone Cold, Goldberg), while female bald wrestlers... wait, there's, to my knowledge, never been one in the WWE. I don't see Molly being the first.
Molly gets the win, gets the title, and keeps her hair. Of course, I'm also guessing Stevie Richards will be involved in this match in some way, shape, or form.
Open Cruiserweight Elimination Challenge
Chavo Guerrero (champion) vs. all challengers
Okay, this could be a very good match to watch if they give it enough time. This is WWE, so they won't, but you never know. This match sucks for Chavito because he has to be the last man in the ring when all is said and done, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see everyone else gang up on him to toss him out first, thereby assuring a new champion. Jamie Noble, Rey Mysterio Jr., and Tajiri are dead locks for participating, and it would, in fact, be foolish of WWE to not throw every single Cruiserweight in the Smackdown locker-room into this match.
I'm biased, I want Tajiri to win.
John Cena vs. the Big Show
Wow, this is actually the first match that signals a bathroom or sandwich break. I don't particularly care for either wrestler, but given the relative pushes both have enjoyed (or not) as of late, I can't see any way out of this except for a Cena victory. On the bright side for the Big Show, at least he isn't jobbing to Hogan any more.
Playboy Evening Gown Match
Sable & Torrie vs. Stacy & Miss Jacky
Wow, the next match I don't care about. Why? Let's see... none of these four are wrestlers. They all stink on ice every time they try to be wrestlers, and if I want to see blondes getting their clothes ripped off, there's always downloads from KaZaa.
I'm predicting that I won't care unless all four get naked and start a daisy chain in the ring.
Rock n' Sock Connection vs. Ric Flair, Randy Orton, & Batista
A handicapped match? Well, not really. Flair is so long in the tooth that the only real offense will come from Orton and Batista. Foley will focus on Orton, the Rock on Batista, and Flair gets to distract the ref.
However, given that the Rock is back for this match, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see him and Foley pull this one off. Also, considering that the Superfly Jimmy Snuka is going to be at Wrestlemania, I would not be a bit surprised at all to see the Superfly fly once more.
Prediction: Rock n' Sock Connection claim the victory, and the Orton/Foley feud will continue to simmer.
Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar
Where to go with this one? A week ago, smart money would have given Lesnar the win as contract talks with Goldberg had stalled over money, and it wasn't likely that he would be used much, if at all, after Wrestlemania. Now, however, numerous sites support the rumour that Brock Lesnar is quitting the WWE as well. So who wins?
Well, considering that Stone Cold is the special guest referee, AND he has reason to not like either participant (Goldberg for accidentally spearing SCSA, Lesnar for attacking SCSA in the ring), then look for a double-stunner and Austin to proclaim himself the victor. Much beer-swilling ensues.
The Dead Will Rise Again
The Undertaker vs. Kane
The old-school deadman returns, and yes, I'm predicting he'll win. Let's face it, with the psychological build-up they've been giving this match, WWE bookers would be absolute fools to have this match end in any way but a victory for the Undertaker. And given the appearance of the urn on MOnday night, look for Paul Bearer to be by his side.
RAW Tag Team Battle Royal
RVD & Booker T (champs) vs. La Resistance vs. the Dudley Boys vs. Jindrak and Cade
Considering that both Booker T and RVD are, from all reports, in current contract talks, this could be the match that decides whether they stay or go. I mean, nothing says the company supports you by making you champions and then letting you stay the champions. Furthermore, their opponents are probably going to be more interested in beating the stuffing out of each other then the champions, given that La Resistance don't see anywhere near eye to eye with the Dudley Boys, and there were some hackles raised in a match where Jindrak and Cade supported them. Depending on the stipulations of the match (whether it's first pin gets the victory, or elimination), then it all changes. If it's elimination, then look for the same tactics as in the Cruiserweight Open Challenge, namely eliminating the champs first. If that succeeds, then honestly, I see Jindrak and Cade getting the titles, for at least a little while.
However, if it's first pinfall gets the victory, then I see RVD and Booker T pulling off the win.
Kurt Angle vs. Eddie Guerrero (champ)
Boy, would it suck if both Chavo and Eddie lost their belts on the same night? Yeah, it would. However, while the stipulation of the match Chavo is in lead to the near certainty that he won't walk out the winner, Eddie is not facing a bunch of different guys. He just has to get past a Olympic Gold Medalist and former champion in Kurt Angle. I don't think this will be as much of a problem as is made out, as Angle's neck has been bothering him again, and I foresee Eddie's reign as champion will continue for several more months to come.
Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Benoit
Okay, the backstage politicking ruined what could have been a great singles match between HHH and Benoit, and turned it into a triple-threat match. I wish I could see a clean victory by Chris Benoit, but between HHH's magic sledgehammer (always at ringside when he needs it), and Shawn Michaels even being in this match, I don't see it. Not to say that Chris won't get the win. I think, I predict he will.
But because it's a triple-threat match, HHH doesn't have to be pinned to lose the match. I see Benoit pinning Shawn Michaels (or more likely, causing him to tap out from the Crippler Cross-face), only to have to listen to HHH's bitch and whine-fest the next night on RAW. I also see the rest of Evolution trying to get involved in this match at some point.
Winner: Benoit, but he will almost certainly have a rematch within weeks.
That's it... I think. I was certain there was a Smackdown Tag-Team title match as well, but since not even the WWE site is listing it....
