Proving that Jon Quesada isn't the only "anti-marriage" douchebag in comics

DC Comics is saying that their big reset stupidity will also get rid of the Superman/Lois Lane marriage.

And yes, it is stupidity. They had a chance to 'reset' everything a few years back with Final Crisis. They could have changed things up more with Blackest Night or Brightest Day. Hell, Brightest Day is barely over, and the aftermath involving the Swamp Thing isn't supposed to end until August, which is a month before the reset. So really, what the hell?

Not to mention that DC just has a stellar reputation of getting the vast continuity changing stuff down right. (We're looking at you, Hawkman.)

Though they did break up Spiderman and Mary Jane in the most facepalming way possible...

...I think I remember reading about that. (Never really hit the Spidey side of the Force) What was that again? I *know* it was ludicrous...

The essence of it, as I remember it, is that Aunt May was shot and about to die. Morpheus (basically the devil) came to Spidey and MJ and offered to save Aunt May's life in exchange for being allowed to split up their marriage. When they agreed, Morpheus reset time and did a bunch of weird things like bringing Harry back to life and not evil and making people forget that Parker was Spiderman (revealed during Civil War) and other weird stuff. It was basically a really fucked-up, deus ex machina kind of way to reset a bunch of different storylines.

Ahhh yes. "We've completely written ourselves into a corner. We can fix it (hard) or we can retconn EVERYTHING!" "Retconn it is!"

"What about our audience?"

"Eh, they won't notice as long as we don't kill off Aunt May again."

I was trolling scans_daily at the time Civil War was wrapping up, and the general opinion seemed to be, "Okay, fine, bring back Harry, put Spidey back undercover, Civil War was a flawed story anyway... but seriously, are you people just unable to write good storylines about married couple?"

RE: Highlander, finale of Season 1 - happily married people can't provide as much of TEH DRAMA as angsty lonely 'goin' through one chica an episode' types!

*currently writing a happily married couple, shakes fist at stupid cliched trend*
