Harold Camping speaks

"Uh yeah, so uh... no Rapture, but no five months of continual destruction either. But the world will still end on October 21st, so prepare sinners!"

You know, given that he's 89 years old, he might not live to October 21st, but I hope he does, so he can explain just how he was wrong. Again.

What I don't get? Is why, even if one does believe in that idea...of Christ coming back and the planet trashing as the act of a 'loving' deity.....why the hoopla.

Why isn't it all simply quiet, internal waiting and living. Why is the big display necessary. I sort of "get" the psychopathic psychological need of some folks to feel assured of a better place to go sit and point at others 'getting their just desserts'. What I don't get at all is why you'd advertise such pathological misanthropy.

Ah, yes. The specialness. Silly me, looking for something remotely associated with rationality.

That would require him to actually explain shit.

Dude, I'll bet you $20 it'll be something about either how God decided to give us mercy or it'll be a take on the "Oh, the Rapture is happening, it's just spiritual." Maybe something like, "Oh, the world is being destroyed, it's just that God's working on a several million year plan to have the sun go nova, expand, and swallow the earth."

My vote is that there's no math, he's just got a big wheel he spins four times to come up with a month and day and picks an arbitrary year.
