Interesting

According to the local newspaper, one of the islands in Lake Murray is for sale.

• Assessed value: $1.23 million
• Size: 9 acres
• 4,300-square foot house
• 2 docks
• Private road

Must... win... Powerball...

(Yes, I want my own island. It's the first step to declaring myself a monarch.)

Actually

that wouldn't do you much good, to get that island on your path to becoming a monarch, because you dont have the one legal thing that's very, very importaint to declaring your own nation, and that's soverginity.

You can own a US island and still be nothing more than a wacky rich American. Same with most the islands floating around, you can own them, but they still belong to whatever country flag-planted it oh so long ago. Sad, but true.

Oh, hell, I know that... but if I ever won Powerball and could afford to buy that island, I'd still do, and call myself King Patrick the first, even if it had no legitimate meaning.

Because I'd be rich. And when you're rich, you can afford to be eccentric instead of plain ol' crazy. :P
