What a shock
Republicans oppose any sort of compromise on the soon to expire tax cuts.
You see, Obama wants to let the tax cuts for anyone making over $250,000/year expire, but keep the rest of the tax cuts.
The Republicans want to keep all the tax cuts, and would rather (it seems) see them all expire, and then, of course, blame the Democrats for those lost tax cuts, rather then unclench at all.
*sigh*
