So, they've legitimized anyone who makes up their own shit and calls it "ye olde practices of the Droooods"? *shrug* Whatever, it's all a bunch of make-believe since the druids didn't exactly leave detailed notes about how they did things.
In San Jose there's an annual con called PantheaCon that is a major pagan convention on the West Coast. A few of my friends like to go and people watch and I told them that the last time I tried to go, even in a sociological fashion, I get into a shouting match about the fact that the "loving mother goddess" the Morrigan would've killed all of their children and left their husband's bodies on the battle field to rot long before she would've shared any warm fuzzies with any of those fluffy pagans.
I wasn't kicked out of the con, but the head of security, a woman I work with at a different convention, did ask me to stop making her life more difficult.
Quite frankly, I find the concept of reincarnation to be rather daffy. To date, every white person (read: neo-Pagan, etc.) I've met who believes in it believes that in a past life, they were someone important. A king, or a noble, or a high priest or whatnot. I've yet to meet one of these neo-pagans who thinks that they were J. Random Peasant.
*nod* Yeah. Part of it is the simple audacity of the situation, right? You're attempting to say that you have the secret knowledge of the DROOOOODS when there is very, very little known about them. Honestly, just admit that you're making it up, that it's your best guess based off of whatever information (or imagination) you've got, and I'll at least give you credit for being honest with yourself.
Seriously. Everyone's Alexander the Great, John Dee, or Cleopatra. No one is Toilet Scrubber #2 or the reincarnation of someone horrible to their particular racial/ethnic background, like an Irish person saying they were once William of Orange.
