I don't know. Kim Jong Il, from what I've heard, isn't in the best of health and the son he wants to turn the government over to is apparently big on military.
If it wasn't for the fact that I know it'd get Americans killed and create tensions between the US and China, I almost would want them to finally just kick it off and get this shit over with.
A large part of it depends on whether the military head honchos will want to follow sonny-boy once pappy kicks the bucket. With half the country starving and diseases like Hep B, tuberculosis and malaria endemic to the country, their rank-and-file military might not be in the best shape, and the average citizen isn't going to be throwing a whole lot of anything into a war.
If China doesn't slap them upside the head or stays neutral, there's pretty much no way North Korea can win a war. Doesn't mean that they can't fuck some things up, but they'll have to do it in the first couple of days, because they won't get much of a chance after that.
