We've been on the two-party system for so long, I'm not sure anything could really shake it up.

Well, the way things are going, one party or the other (most likely the dems) is probably going to crash and be replaced.

You have way more than two parties. You simply only have two parties *that matter*.

Canada is similar - we have the Separatists, the Socialists, the National Socialists, and the Liberals, but, of those, only the Liberals and the National Socialists have ever formed a government, and the National Socialists only got in because the Liberals were racked by scandals and their voter base were basically all "anyone but you, and the Socialists are complete fuckwits". I'll point out that every time it looks like the NS will get a majority, they *immediately* drop 10 points in polls because while a lot of people consider them an acceptable interim placeholder government until the Liberals shape up, NOBODY wants to chance their being able to actually implement their platform.
