Probably a terrible idea

There is this series of books "Left Behind", where basically, the Rapture happens, the Antichrist becomes the Secretary-General of the U.N. blah blah blah blah blah blah....

Anyway, what about a more tongue-in-cheek version? The Rapture happens, only it's not just devout Christians who are 'Raptured'. Devout Muslims go to Paradise, devout Buddhists go to Nirvana, and so forth. All that would be left behind are agnostics, atheists, and the not-very devout.

Instead of the world being thrown into chaos by such events, it's a lot calmer, as there's less people, no one's screaming about their religion any more, and so forth.

Call it "Left Behind: And loving it"

... Now that sounds like an interesting book :)

I'm stuck wondering how much of Congress would have to be 'Raptured' to effectively make a point/be funny. You know, what's the threshold of belief for *poof* afterlife?

What's more hysterical is if you have some of the major religious leaders _not_ get taken.

Day 17, Post-Rapture Diary

The 700 Club aired it's last show today, because although Pat Robertson wasn't 'called home', nearly all of his followers were, and the lack of advertiser interest in his program block didn't please the remaining ABC executives.

Be sure to feature something where one of the devout, someone of prominence, shows back up on earth for some reason and is all confused that the place isn't in ruins and such.

The Buddhists would be left behind as well. Nirvana isn't a place.

Damn you and your logic and facts!

(You do get my point though? The idea that a "go to the happy afterlife" isn't a solely Christian thing?)

How wrong is it that I would willingly *pray* for such a day?

And next you'll say that Hell isn't in Michigan. :P
