You know

this "you have lost internet connection" every 10 minutes shit can stop any time now.

Comcast?

Nope. Roadrunner. No idea if it's a bad router or what. It does seem to happen more often when I'm playing City of Heroes, but up until a week ago or so, it wasn't happening but maybe once a day.

My photo host's server has gone down for the hundredth time this year. I'm >thisclose< to cutting a motherfucker right about now.

What's weird about this is that it will lose connection, and then "automagically" reconnect without me having to prompt it... well, most of the time.

Also, when I reset something in the router (it's a pop-up screen in the network management tools for Vista), it's good for a couple of hours. But it doesn't always give me that option, and if it doesn't, it's every 10-15 minutes that I lose connection.

Fucking weird.

Who do you use for your picture hosting anyway?

Onfinite. My main beef with them is not that their servers are unstable (for who among us is not unstable from time to time?), it's that the only way to contact them is through e-mail, and it sometimes takes days for them to get back to me. (Meantime, I don't have access to my own image library, and all of my image dump posts, dating back to when I first joined LJ, are blank slates.) I'm pretty sure I've been responsible for alerting them to more server failures than whatever internal monitoring system they've got in place.

I'm also convinced that photo hosting is just a hobby of theirs. It's clearly not their full-time job. If I didn't already have (literally) thousands of images stored there already, I'd definitely be shopping for a different host. It's only a few bucks a month, but still... if you ran a subscription-based hosting site, wouldn't you pretty much monitor the thing 24/7?

Shit, I was going to suggest Photobucket, but I don't know if they have a tool to move over thousands of pictures. I also know they frown on nude pics, even artistic ones.

Yeah, one advantage to Onfinite is that you can create "private" folders including whatever content you'd like, and still be able to link to them publicly.

Their server is still down this morning, btw.

*grumble*
