Man, criminals are dumb.

Take Scott Gibson, for example. Gets caught speeding by one of those speed cameras. Gets mailed the ticket.

Does he pay it? No. Does he contest the ticket at court? No.

He mails it back saying I don't have to pay this, I work for the CIA.

Unfortunately for Mr. Gibson, he doesn't. So, now, in addition to the $65 speeding ticket, he's been charged with criminal impersonation, and federal charges are pending.

Smooth move.

I mean, seriously, you never hear about the smart criminals. I suppose that's because they are smart, and therefore don't get caught.

Really? I think that there are idiots in every profession, take for example half of the people in our government who besides making bad political decions (which they are somewhat intitled to) are in sex scandels with prostitutes or just cheating on their wivies with makes us doubt their credibility on where they stand on morals. Not to mention celebraties who realize nude photo's after stating how dumb other starlets are and need to be more careful (*cough* Vannessa Hudgens). I know these examples are of famous people but they are the cases that we all witness most often. In reality we see average people being idiots all the time. The truth is.. if they weren't so stupid we wouldn't feel nearly as good about ourselves especialy when we regretfully make idiotic decions

Well, there are idiots, and then there are IDIOTS.

I mean, in this case, if the dude had actually worked for the CIA, you know, he still would have had to pay the speeding ticket, but you know, it might have been worth a shot to use his job to get out of it.

When the dumbass in question doesn't even work for the government agency that he claimed to, and is looking at federal charges because he didn't want to pay a speeding ticket.... that's a whole other level of dumbass.

And yeah, politicians and celebrities, by and large are just as dumb as others. They're higher profile, and they have much further to fall from when they do screw up. Let's face it... we put celebrities and sports figures and even some politicians on pedastals. But oh, do we love to see them fall. (That being said, after so many previous examples, there's no excuse for any celebrity who is not a porn star to ever film themselves having sex.)

Except that sort of thing can be a firing offense.

Now, if he was someone -really- important at the CIA, he would just pass it off to a minion and have it dealt with... but a minion level job at the CIA (i.e., the equivalent of me with the DoD) can't pull that shit.
