So here I am, at work

When I came in, I was told that some customer might be e-mailing us a file to print 100 copies of, and then laminate the copies. The customer was apparently told that if they wanted this by 4 a.m., they need to get it to us by midnight.

It is now 3:40 a.m., and there is no sign of this purported e-mail. This means one of a few possibilities:

a) Customer changed their mind, decided they didn't need the job.
b) Customer e-mailed the file to the wrong store.
c) Customer is waiting until 4 a.m. to e-mail the job they need at 4 a.m.
d) Customer will come into the store in the morning and place the order then.

Now, if it's (a), fine by me. I'm not fond of rush jobs, especially when there are other things I could be working on. If it's (b), then the customer will be showing up here fairly soon, demanding their job, which we don't have, because we never got it. (Not that logic like that phases any of the morons we deal with who actually send their files to the wrong store.) If it's (c), well, the job is not getting done. Sorry, but that's just the breaks. If it's (d), well, hopefully, I will be gone before they come in.

Otherwise, the night is going fairly well. No computer morons, only a light church crowd, and long periods of time where there are no customers in the store. Plus, I'm actually getting some things done, although one job is proving quite impossible thus far. (I don't think we can foam-core mount a canvas painting, so I'm not sure why we took an order to do so....)

Basically, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, where someone comes in and needs 3 hours of work done in 15 minutes. If it doesn't happen, no problem. But it sure seems to happen more often then not...

Any follow-up?

They never came in, at least not by the time I left. I don't work again until Tuesday night, so if it was such a damned emergency, if the job even comes in today, it should be gone by then.

Then I work Wednesday night, then I go to Dragon. Where, hopefully, I run into people I haven't seen in a while, and hopefully do not run into other people. (Like Ms. Marvel, for one, and a particular pain in the ass for another. The latter, I actually have no idea if he is attending, but I have no desire to spend the weekend in jail for putting my foot up his ass. And don't worry, Eric, it's not you. :P)

Hey, I knew that...

It wasn't me. I may be a pain in the ass, but not that big of one.
