so, um... yeah

There is a "Fair Tax" rally of some sorts going on at the statehouse (a block away) today. On my way home from some errands, I actually saw people carrying signs that had tea bags attached to them.

You do not know how hard it was to resist asking them if they knew what teabagging really is.

Perhaps you should demonstrate to them what it means?

Most of them do. I've lost the link, but there was a post on [livejournal.com profile] libertarianism, IIRC, talking about teabagging the IRS.

The guy carrying the sign was in his late 40s, early 50s, at least.

Doesn't mean he hasn't been to the internets. I hear they have people of all ages there.

*sigh*

The problem is that the fair tax won't work. There's a large amount of hand waving in there to make the numbers come out right.

On top of that in an economy that 70+% consumer spending the last thing you want to do is overtly place all taxes on consumer spending.

We're having people throw TEA (Taxed Enough Already) parties around here. They constantly compare themselves to organizers of the Boston Tea Party. I want to hit them over the heads with history books.
