For reasons totally unrelated to this, an acquaintance and I once decided that if we ever had a need to hire employees, the final hiring interview would contain some United-States-High-School-Curriculum-Level math and science questions, and anyone who was unable to answer the questions while cut off from the Internet and phones within a reasonable frame of time would be passed over for hiring.
This, however, would not stop us from asking a series of progressively more-difficult questions if the candidate did not answer the most basic questions correctly, starting with the most basic question: How did you arrive at your current opinion as to the age of the Earth? Please be detailed and specific.
Not "what is the correct age of the earth" not "do you accept or reject creationism or evolutionary theory/science"
Just 'How did you intend to get out of the mousetrap'?
