I'm torn

On one hand, I want to track down Grant Morrison and beat him with a stick.

On the other hand, I just keep telling myself "That's a brick's job."

I'm referring to the whole Batman R.I.P. thing.

Well, I don't like it. And, okay, part of that is hardly going to be Grant Morrison's fault, but he wasn't exactly high on my list of comic writers before this. I'm sure there was some overall Editor-in-Chief mandates that he had to adhere to.

But the whole "this is the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman" line from Morrison.... ehh.... I mean, look, the guys at DC know who pays their paychecks. It's the fans. So when John Q. Writer kills off or replaces Minor Character #17, no one cares. But no one expects the big guys to stay dead. (That's one of the reasons why Barry Allen dying back in the original Crisis was such a big deal. And even that didn't last.) Or stay on the sidelines.

Can you honestly see, a year from now, that Bruce Wayne isn't back being the Batman?

Check the #'s on the Batman titles.
There's a large milestone # coming up 800 or so. In about 20 issues.

It's just a sales gimmick. He'll leave, there will be months of agony as the "new" Batman takes over, and then something will make BruceyBoy take the title back in an epic battle vs SomeoneCrazy.

They did it with the whole Nightfall thing, same shit, different catch phrase.
Knightfall, RIP. Flashy title, very little originality.

But I am enjoying Morrisons' run on Batman.
