I wish I had the talent to really write fiction

I mean, I've posted extremely short fiction pieces before. Usually not more then a dozen paragraphs. That's all I can get before I can't figure out where to go next, or I start really thinking it sucks.

What really sucks is when I have what seems like a good idea (well, to me at least), and I know I can't go anywhere with it.

"JFK was not assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald took the rap for it in exchange for a Papal guarantee of absolution for all of his sins. The assassination of JFK was orchestrated by a cabal of U.S. government figures and select interests from the Vatican. It was necessitated by the demonic possession of JFK as a result of the first time he fucked Marilyn Monroe, as she had been possessed years earlier. This cabal would break apart with the accidental shooting of the second coming of Christ two years later, during a peace rally."

Yes, yes, I know. I'm going to Hell.

I've managed to pull off about 6k words for a short story.

See, the thing is, I'm my own worst critic. (I suspect the same holds true for most people who write, not just professional writers.) I've probably tossed dozens of stories because of thinking "it's crap, it's crap, it's crap" ad nauseum.

And I can't stop that little jabbering critic in my brain.
