Obama picked Biden to run as VP?

Someone convince me this is a good thing. I'm not saying it's bad. I just need help being convinced it's good.

He's old, Obama's weakness isn't in foreign policy, mistakes will happen, and Cheney was a veep to counter an image. Is Biden gonna shoot someone in the face? Gah. I'm at loose ends with this too.
