Well????

Where, oh where, are my vampire rules.
Where, oh where, can they be?

The Mortals rules list shut down pretty much at the beginning of October. Sure, there are probably still people working on it, but it's now almost the end of November. At this rate, even if the rules-vampire list started up today, there would be no way that it would be "done" before January. Which means that the finalization process (much like stuffing sausage into sausage tubes) would probably not be over until February. Which, would maybe mean 6.0 by March. Engfah.... Oh wait, we have Prime after that. Make that April or May.

*nods* its a cock up. Question, can we see the final versions of the rules sets that are "done"? I need to know what to prepare for.

I'm guessing "no".

Probably not until the full release of 6.0

After all, it makes absolutely no sense for people to start re-writing their characters now, so they don't have to do them all at once, which would save time and eliminate stress. We can't have that....

you'd think...

[identity profile] mithras.livejournal.com 2002-11-26 07:22 am (UTC)(link)
That the rulesteam would have seen the 'final' version
of the rules. At least as far as mortals go, that hasn't
been the case.

I'm still argueing with the 'powers that be' for some
changes to the rules, and their only comments have been
'the Mortals rules process is over'.

And I have to disagree with that. The process isn't
over until, at a minimum, the rulesteam has signed off
on the final product.

And for those thinking I may have just done a bad thing,
and you know who you are, there was not, to the best of
my knowledge, a non-disclosure.

So, what... the rules-team doesn't get final say? What is the point of having a rules-team then?

So the rank and file can be deluded into thinking they might have some form of say...

Yeah, so I'm a cynic about the Cam...

I'm not a "glass half full", or even a "glass half empty" kinda guy... I'm more of a "Who the hell drank half the stuff outta my glass???" sort... :)

Actually, Prime comes first.
From everything Chris has said, Prime will be a get in, get out sort of thing. And certain things will be up to our illustrious NST to decide, and frankly, I'd like mob rules with realism, thank you very much. Traits I don't care about either way.

While, realistically, five guys trying to tool one guy are much more likely to win, I'm just not sure there is a good way to handle mob combat. I know there are bad ways, but a good way?

Sure, if we had reciprocal results, like in TT....

Gods, if only.
It's a poor system at best.

We do; but only if you use Trait based initiative.

It slows things down a bit, but it gives the option
for more than just one side to do damage in a round.

I would speculate that trying to rewrite, say, a current Mage Character to 6.0 without the benefit of 6.0 Prime would largely be a waste. You wouldn't be able to account for everything you'd need to, and besides, aren't you planning on playing that PC between now and March or so?

Certain things in the Venue chapters would probably need tweaking based on the final version of Prime. No sense in finalizing the Mortals, Mage, C'ling etc. drafts if in a month or two they have to say "whoops, umm...never mind..."

I understand...

... we'll see something in a week.
