For one, it's overdue.

For another, the landlady is doing another inspection of the apartments in January, and while they're more concerned with any damage to the apartments, they are looking to see how messy they are. The last time they did inspections, they found a couple of apartments that were absolute pigsties (and were probably the source of many of the roach problems in the building).
