Of course he did.
He had the people who were going to vote for him because he was the Incumbant, plus the Republican machine pushing for him, in an effort to split the Democrat side of the vote.

Yeah, but considering he said he was going to vote with the Dems, you wouldn't think the Republicans would have been pushing for him.
