what the sunny fuck?

Disturbed covers "Land of Confusion"?
Nonpoint covers "In the Air Tonight"?

What the fuck? What the fucking fuck? Disturbed... who brought us "Down With the Sickness", covering Genesis. Nonpoint, whose "Bullet with a Name on it" is a pretty good song, covering Phil Collins. What's going on here? Was there some bet over who could make a 'least suck' cover of something sung by Phil Collins?

And I swear, I heard a cover of Pink Floyd's "Have a Cigar".....

Before you get all critical of Disturbed's cover... Listen to the song.

How very romantic. Great, another band trying to educate me on the real source of the worlds problems, and it's easy fix by just starting a revolution.

Ironically, it's quaint and droll all at the same time.

David Grohl's side-project band, Probot, covered "Have a Cigar".

I thought it was the Foo Fighters. With Brian May, actually. And Taylor Hawkins coming out from behind the drums to sing. But I could be wrong.

You are correct. It was released on the "Learn to Fly" single.

I have listened to it. Here's the thing. If a band is going to cover a song, within certain limits, they should stick to the genre they're known for.

Example: Only on Bizarro world should, say, Korn cover Kenny Rogers. But if George Strait wanted to, it's more acceptable, because him and Kenny are both country musicians.

There are always exceptions, of course. Johnny Cash covered several songs outside what is typically considered his genre, and they worked very well. But for every good remake/cover (like Cash's "Personal Jesus") there are a hundred remakes/covers that should never see the light of day, much less radio air time.

LoC was actually a decent cover.

As for ItAT, I think you need to blame the Miami Vice remake.

I have to wonder, who the fuck greenlighted that one.

What's next? Hill Street Blues as a movie? St. Elsewhere, the movie?
