So...
The South Carolina Republican primary is today. It's an open primary, meaning any registered voters, regardless of party affiliation (or lack thereof) can vote in it.
I will not be voting.
For one thing, my polling location is well over a mile away. I don't have a car, and while my roommate does, he gets off of work shortly before I go to bed.
Also, going down there now would put me in the presence of a lot of South Carolina Republicans, and I don't think I could handle that much stupid right now. (Side note: No, I don't consider all Republicans or all South Carolinians, or all South Carolina Republicans stupid. However, these are the same folks who booed Ron Paul when he quoted the Golden Rule. So fuck that.)
It will, however, be a close race. Gingrich has picked up some steam, and since finding Jesus (ha ha), the masses seem to gloss over his regular marital infidelities. (I still contend that if he's ever caught cheating on wife #3, she will cut his balls off. With pinking shears.) Plus, he's "not-Romney".
However, even if Gingrich pulls off a win, he's still fucked in Florida, where Romney is maintaining 15+ point advantage. (Yes, polls can be wrong, or off, but this is pretty much a 30 point shift to Romney since late November. And Florida has twice as many delegates as South Carolina. And Virginia, where Gingrich isn't even on the fucking ballot is worth almost as much as Florida.)
Short version: Even if Gingrich wins South Carolina, it's not going to matter nearly as much as he thinks it will.
