Herman Cain is suspending his campaign for the time being. Perhaps permanently. What a shock... sexual scandals and crappy denials of such haven't derailed a presidential campaign since... oh yeah, 2008.
On the heels of this, figuring he's got nothing to lose but the front-runner position, Newt Gingrich has accepted an offer to attend a debate hosted by Donald Trump. This would be the same debate that Jon Huntsman and Ron Paul have already declined offers to attend. Considering that Trump himself will be moderating it, I think Huntsman and Paul made the right choice. It's going to be a farce.
Of course, Ron Paul is also too extreme for the Republican Jewish Coalition, which will have all the other major candidates together on Wednesday. (One assumes that Cain won't actually attend, now that he's suspending his campaign.)
And to wrap it up, Michelle Bachmann still thinks she has a shot at taking South Carolina. Uh... doubt it. I mean, she's probably not too far off on saying that as goes South Carolina, so goes the Republican presidential candidate. But considering that the most recent South Carolina poll had her at 3%? (and the only South Carolina poll to have her at above 10% was back in August, when Rick Perry was the man to beat?) Yeah, don't it happening.
