On running for President
Aug. 26th, 2011 08:11 amSarah Palin still hasn't thrown her name into the ring, officially. But if she is going to, she's going to have to do it soon. You see, depending on the state/territory, you have certain deadlines to get on the ballot in that state. Ironically, this means that even though Tim Pawlenty has dropped out, his name is still going to be on the ballot in South Carolina, but I digress.
For example, to get on the ballot in Florida, you have to be listed by October 31st. For South Carolina, November 1st. For New Hampshire it's (subject to change) November 18th. If you haven't filed whatever forms and jumped through whatever hoops by the cut-off date for that state... tough shit.
Which, mind you, would be hilarious. I mean, let's face it... it's not the candidates themselves that are sitting down and going through each state's forms and whatnot. They have staff for that shit. Still, it would reflect on the candidate, wouldn't it? So, yes, it would be funny as hell if through some major league dropping of the ball, Perry didn't end up on the South Carolina or Florida ballot. Or Palin didn't officially join the race in time to get on several early ballots, simply because there wasn't time to meet varying criteria.
I don't see that happening, but it would be funny.
