The projected path has it barely touching South Carolina but we got an automatic warning at work about Hurricane Irene and how to close the store in case of an emergency.

Columbia city council enacts a permanent curfew for mid-teens in one bar district of the city.... but not another just a couple of miles away.

To be fair, there are more residences near Five Points (the bar/club area that has the curfew) than the Vista (the other bar/club district), but it's not like the two are separated by that much real estate. I used to live near Five Points, and was able to walk 90% of the way to the Vista in under 30 minutes.

*sigh*

You know, I kind of wish I'd been able to score one of those fire-sale HP touchpads. At $99, it wouldn't have been so expensive, and I'm sure I could find fun uses for it.
