E.W. Cromartie officially sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison on tax evasion charges.

Except it's not 'finally' over. You see, he's not actually going to jail until after Christmas. And, if he behaves himself, he's going to probably only serve about 10 months of that sentence, so he'll be out by this time next year. Because it would just be wrong if he missed a Christmas with his family.

Never mind that his tax evasion goes all the way back to 2003. And that if he weren't a highly connected local politician (in other words, if he were just some random guy, like you or me), he'd have gotten a lot more time and would have started serving his sentence immediately.

Words fail me.
