To say that I'm mildly upset would be the understatement of the year.

Last night, I found out that my store is going to be open Thanksgiving Day. So, instead of Thanksgiving dinner with the family, I get to go to work (at time and a half, but it's still a gyp) and probably stand around being bored out of my damned skull for eight hours. I live in the state capital. Hell, you look out my apartment window and you can see the capital building. All the government offices will be closed. Most businesses will be closed. The university down the street from the store will be closed.

FedEx shipping will be closed.

That's what gets me. We're not shipping anything that day. All the drivers, probably most of the package processors, and you know all the high-level corporate fat-cats will have the day off. Hell, the district managers on up are probably taking long weekends. But the Kinko's side? Oh yeah, we're open. Or at least my store is.

Urge to kill rising.

(yes, sort of ripping off The Daily Show)

Lawmakers reject emergency bird flu funding

Way to go, guys. Yes, I know that we have a massive deficit already, but it's not like it's ever stopped you from wasting tons of cash on other programs. And on top of no medicine, let's cut programs for the poor and give the wealthy more tax cuts!

Assholes.
