Remember my rant about remakes?
May. 5th, 2005 11:51 amI just saw an advertisement for the "new" version of the old Burt Reynolds movie "The Longest Yard".
What. The. Fuck.
Adam Sandler? Chris Rock?
Don't get me wrong. The original version had some comedic moments in it. It also had one inmate being burned to death. And frankly, recasting Burt Reynolds' role with Adam Sandler? Yeesh. At least in the original version, Burt looked like he could have played football. He was in reasonably good shape. Adam Sandler? Picturing Adam Sandler as the quarterback for anything above midget football is just not working. I keep hearing the line "not in the face!" (even though more properly attributed to Arthur, the Tick's sidekick) upon thinking of a blitz heading to crush the QB.
Dear Hollywood. Fuck you. Try something remotely original.
