Yes, it snowed here. Looks like about a quarter inch of snow, which is enough to panic the citizenry, shut down the local (and inept) city government, and cause mass pandemonium. Yet I am still at work. You see, it's far easier for me to walk two blocks then to shut down the store for the night.
Plus, I have all the fun of dealing with cretins who are convinced that we're due to be snowed in, and yet have the urge to call Kinko's at 2 in the morning to find out if we're going to be open.
Add to that the cretins who think that they know what they're talking about when they don't, the morons who don't listen, the one jackass who can't read, and the interminable disruption in my efficiency when I'm the only one here (when there should be two people scheduled). Now, I don't play my other third-shifter. She works two jobs, and while she is used to much worse conditions, having grown up in Wisconsin, she has tires that she described as "being balder then a baby's butt".
You'd think that the rest of the staff would manage something so I wouldn't be here alone tonight. No, oh no. So I get three nights by myself instead of two. Joy. Plus, my relief shift is likely to be late, as (save for one) they are unused to snow/ice on the roads. One has already called out sick, but he was out sick yesterday as well, so I don't think he's skiving off. I suspect one of my other co-workers will skive off.
Bastard.
Oh well, time for some lunch, no doubt to be interrupted by a phone call asking when the Harbison store started closing nights (two and a half years ago, btw.)
