Let's clear something up here
It's not that I hate the holiday/Christmas season. I don't.
I do hate most Christmas music that isn't performed by Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Mannheim Steamroller, or Weird Al. (Nothing shuts up Christmas maniacs like "The Night Santa Went Crazy".) I hate Christmas music because some people seem to believe that it's perfectly acceptable to play Christmas music 24/7 from Decemeber 1st all the way to December 25th. And there's only so many times I can listen to "Little Drummer Boy" or "Jingle Bells". (Unless, of course, we're talking about the version the Joker sings.) And luckily, most of my co-workers understand this and don't put the store music on the holiday station. (Actually, since one of our assistant managers got promoted and got her own store, this is not really a concern as she was the one who was most likely to put it on the Christmas music.)
I hate that some people seem to think that being happy and jolly for a couple weeks a year makes up for them being utter shits the rest of the year. (I avoid this be being an asshole all the time. I may not have the "holiday spirit", but at least you know what you're getting.)
Now, I'm not deliberately cruel... I don't go spoiling Christmas for kids. I don't tell them that the mall Santas are all fakes, or that satellite imagery has conclusively shown a distinct lack of a workshop at the North Pole. Or any of that shit. Let them become disillusioned on their own.
But I swear to the Dark Lord Jesus that if one more person 'corrects' me when I say Happy Holidays (you mean Merry Christmas!), I'm going to stuff a Yule log up their ass.
