hrm

Is there any way, without opening up the case, to tell what kind of RAM I have? I know how much I have, but I'd rather not mess with the innards to determine what type it is, how many pins, whatever.

No, not really. At least not that I am aware of. Which is why I kept the printouts from NewEgg the last time I upgraded.

Damnit. I really think I need to upgrade from 512 Megs of RAM (to 1 Gig), but based on past experiences, I have no idea what to look at to even figure out what kind of RAM I have, even if I do open up the machine.

Got access to a digital camera? Take a pic, close up, but for god's sake, scale it down to a reasonable resolution, and send it to me.

Yep. If I can manage to find it, I'll do so.

SiSoft Sandra could tell you what MoBo (brand and model) you have, that determines what kind of RAM you even can have. Not sure what all that lil babe can show, it might even be able to tell you the type. I just installed XP so much of my proggies are not installed again thus unusable :X. If you have Win XP it has some program for it too but I think Sandra might be better still.

Why do you need to know?

easy!
