Huh?

From a recent Cam-Announce post, by James Nester, the Master Coordinator.

"Just as an FYI, if you joined the organization as part of the transition from the NPO to the new Camarilla, you should be requesting 50 Open Prestige for Early Renewal.

Make sure that you add this to your February Prestige Request that you send to your Chapter Coordinator."

I repeat, huh?

I'm not renewing right now. As far as I'm concerned, the two year freebie is one double length membership. I, for one, am not applying for this Prestige, as it makes absolutely no sense for me to be able to claim this, AS I AM NOT RENEWING RIGHT NOW. Why should I get Prestige for basically sitting on my ass?

Anyone else agree with me?

Yes.

Unfortunately, the prestige whores won't.

They will look at it merely as another 50 open
that, since it was announced by the Master
Coordinator, is 100% "legit" and will be
automatically approved by their CC/DC/RC.

Bleh...

I'll note it. It's not like I track my prestige anyhow in the past nine months.

Though, look on the flip side. You could always get that 50 open for renewing. Now, the membership is already bitching about not being able to do this or that, or we used to have this or that, yada yada yada. This is a cheap way for the club to "reward" it's members, and keep a large group of them happy.

Not saying for or against, just pointing out the possible why :)

The problem I have is that there are people out there in the club who view the "loss" of 50 Open Prestige as something that would make them so unhappy that they had to lobby for this to begin with. They already got something out of this, 2 years free membership. That's what, 40 or 50 dollars? Sure, we're all having to wait on a new Tome, CoC (or ToS, or SoB or whatever the fuck it's called), Constitution, membership cards, and sparkly wands, but I haven't heard a damn person say, at a game, "Oh, my enjoyment of playing an undead bloodsucking creature of the night has been so diminished by not having a membership card."

*sigh*

It's just becoming more and more obvious that I have incredibly different priorities when it comes to the Camarilla.... Prestige ranks slightly on the importance scale then regrouting the tub...

As someone who doesn't care about Prestige or MC (or at least not any since I quit my officer job) I do agree. I'll probably stay MC6 (the one I earned for 3 years' work as DST) til the rest of my Cam life. Tracking XP is enough paperwork for me, I don't need any more number crunching.

However, it might be a good incentive for people to join/renew.

I don't...

"Anyone else agree with me?"

In effect, WW renewed for us when they paid for our second year of membership. Giving us the Early Renewal Prestige is a step in the right public relations.

Besides, I want MC14 one day. :)
