Hrm

Anyone ever used drivethrurpg.com to get gaming books? I'm thinking of ordering the pdf of the new Mage book, but I'd like to hear opinions of how good/bad they are...

They're pretty good. We use them to sell out Cartoon Action Hour PDFs.

Cool. I'm probably going to get their watermarked pdf of the Mage book then. Apparently, it puts my name and sale ID# on the bottom of each page as a watermark... which of course, isn't a watermark, but hey, it's not like I don't have ways of removing that if I want to get rid of it. (One of the few merits of working at FedExKinko's is being able to remove silly stuff off of pdf's with a variety of tools available to me. I'll bet it takes me less then five minutes.)

I believe it also puts your IP address in an invisible font on there.

If it's invisible, then it's not like anyone can see it, now can they?

They charge too much and some of the pdfs aren't so useful as they have DRM, but they're moving away from that.

It's cheaper then the hardcover version and I can print it out at work for free. That's a big selling point for me.

Most of the prices are the same or only very marginally discounted from the hardcopy price - which makes little sense in the PDF market.

You can print for free though, which is good :)

(PS. Buy Bloodsucker ;) )

Sent you e-mail...

Check it before buying...

They're best for out-of-print stuff, like Changeling.

Otherwise, spend the few extra bucks and get a hardcopy.

Ah, but I can print it for free at work, and make multiple copies. (I'm going to be making a second copy tonight, because I fucked up the printing on the first copy. It's mostly in good shape, but when I printed it, I didn't check to make sure that it would print all on the same type of paper. So, part way in through the book, it switches paper types (what I had in there to cardstock, and then a few pages later, back to the paper I put in there).
