ICANN finally does something right

They've approved the .xxx TLD.

Of course, I give Congress less then a year after it's implemented before they try to pass a law making any U.S. based porn sites not on .xxx illegal. Makes it easier to keep it away from kids, and nothing grabs a sound bite or an ignorant voter like a pol doing something "to protect our children".

I doubt they could pass a law like that. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's unlikely.

Now, for filtering web sites, software gets a break. Anything with a .xxx domain would automatically get filtered.

Never put anything past politicians.

But yeah, the filtering software will be easily able to handle the .xxx stuff. I just wonder how many .com porn sites will snap up their equivalent .xxx domains. Probably quite a lot. And at $60/domain, that could be a large barrel of cash.
