Stupidity abounds

And not just from work...

(work) Who in their right mind creates their resume in Quark Express?

(not-work) Ah, yes, the Free Times movie reviewer strikes again. He admits he's never read the books, or listened/seen any of the radio/tv versions, and yet he's confused as to why he's confused by the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy movie? Dimwit. (I may write a letter to the Free Times, accusing them of hiring a moron.)

(work, on the phone) Yes, we're open. Yes, we can send faxes. Yes sir, even to England. You'd think since you mentioned that it was going to England three times before asking if we could actually send it there, I would have mentioned if we couldn't.

(work - last week) Guy comes in, asks some questions about copy costs, and then complains about the music. What the fuck? It's 3 in the morning, and he's the only customer. He wants me to change it to hip-hop or rap (I have it on classic rock). I inform him that we have a policy where we don't change the station at customer request. I can turn it down, or I can turn it off, but I won't change the station. He asks why. I say it's just the policy we have. I turn it down, and 10 minutes later, he's done with his copies. He leaves, I turn the music back up. A couple minutes later, he's back in, because he forgot to copy something. He asks why I turned the music back up. I say, "So I can hear it."

Actually, when it comes to that reviewer . . . if he's never read the books or looked at any of the other versions, he should have been able to watch the movie and come out understanding the story. That he couldn't speaks to how much of a mess the film is.

Actually, when it comes to this reviewer, he's a clueless moron when it comes to movie reviews. He frequently pans several genres of movies, while simultaneously stating he doesn't understand the genre at all. (He has less then no clue when it comes to HK action movies, most sci-fi, and comedy. About the only thing he grasps is chick flicks and war movies.)

First of all, SOME of us do everything in QuarkXPress. But, unless you're a prepress manager of graphic designer, you really have no business even owning the program.

Second, there's a reason it's the FREE Times. Nobody is going to give any cash just to read the (amusing) garbage contained within. If it weren't for the freaky alt-sex personals, I'd never even pick one up at all.
