I'm getting old

It isn't just the snap, crackle and pop sounds my knees just made when I stood up either.

Last night at work, the other 3rd shifter, Adam, was playing various CDs of music. I recognized one band among them. Not that I consider that odd, as I don't recognize a lot of new bands, but while listening to what ostensibly was music, I was treated to a track that seemed to consist of nothing but odd sounds and nonsensical syllables. (I was informed that the band is from the U.S., and that it was supposed to be gibberish.) Among this eight and a half minute track was at least one scream. Yes, the female vocalist felt the need to scream in the middle of the track.

My first reaction was "Turn that damn noise off."

I do not have to imagine, as I clearly recall, my father saying the same thing about Metallica when I would not stop playing the black album.

I admit that there are genres of music that I don't like. Most country music and a good chunk of rap falls into that category. This, however, could only generously be called music.

Eh, I've heard the one Yellowcard song that was played on MTV, and I thought to myself "When did the 80s come back in style?"

I like every Chevelle song I've heard, Cold is pretty good, Finger Eleven is good (I especially like "One Thing"), and I've heard of a couple of the other groups. Actually, I think Ima Robot was something that Adam played earlier in the week. Sounds familiar, at least.

Still, this is from someone who would rather listen to Johnny Cash then most of the current Top 40...
