Fucking annoying

I was planning on playing a little World of Warcraft today. A few things interfered. First of them was that server maintenance for all the U.S. servers was today, so that took several hours. However, the servers are back up, according to the official WoW site.

Except that they're not. Oh sure, it says they're up. Unfortunately, the only one I have any characters on (Argent Dawn) is not up yet. It has not been up for at least the last hour, even though the official site maintains that it is up.

Blizzard, your game rocks. Your web-page on sever status sucks liquid monkey ass. From a large, rusting vat. Your method for returning servers to active status likewise sucks from the same aforementioned vat. (Honestly, I can't figure out what, if any, method they use for deciding in what order servers should be brought back up. Maybe there is no method.)

Hell, at this point, I'd be happy just to get on WoW to check how a few of my auctions were going. I don't think that's going to happen.

Well if they do things any where near how Sony did...

The servers all come up at once, and it's up to Customer Service what order they are unlocked in. Usually one server will get unlocked and all of Customer Service will be on it watching as the players come in to make sure that nothing goes wrong. When they're sure that everything is OK they start unlocking in groups dependent on the size of the customer service staff.

At least that's how EQ worked.

Actually, given all the server problems they've had after each patch, it seems more along the lines of "patch system, let monkeys beat on servers with wrenches"....

Of course, they are having to deal with something like 2-4 times the number of servers they thought they would need...
